Is GapWallet Insurance?
No. GapWallet is not insurance. We don't sell auto or home insurance and are not affiliated with any insurance company. We have special relationships with vetted local service providers to allow you to pay your deductible over time, should you need to file an auto insurance claim that requires you to pay a deductible.
What is an insurance deductible?
A car insurance deductible is the amount of money you have to pay toward repairs before your insurance covers the rest. For example, if you're in an accident that causes $3,000 worth of damage to your car and your deductible is $1000, you will have to pay $1000 toward the repair.
What are Local Service Providers?
Local Service Providers (LSP) are all auto collision shops in the nation. GapWallet's vetting process finds the best preferred providers, so you have peace of mind when taking your vehicle in for collision repairs. In the future, members will be able to provide feedback and rate the LSPs from within their GapWallet account.
Can I use GapWallet if the accident wasn’t my fault?
Typically, the responsible party’s insurance company will handle the claim to repair your vehicle. You won’t need to pay your deductible if it wasn’t your fault. The other insurance company will pay the full cost of the repairs for you or offer you a settlement for the value of your vehicle if it’s totaled. Before you take your vehicle in for repairs, contact the other person’s insurance company and provide your statement. You can seek legal help if you’re injured or need legal advice.

Can I increase my insurance deductible with GapWallet?
Most people balance the risk of paying a deductible with the monthly cost of their insurance premium. Because you can pay your deductible over time, some GapWallet members choose to increase their deductible to save money on their premium.
